Pastoral Musings

The last few weeks, I’ve been teaching a few classes online. While it’s fun to facilitate students working toward degrees and such, I really enjoy listening to the life and ministry from their particular part of the country where they live.

This last week, I found myself as the one whose mind was expanded by the ministerial lens of so many people from different walks of life. One key takeaway I had was from a student who is in Centralia. She was speaking about rest. She said, “We should not be people who work toward rest, but people who work from rest.”

I really like that. So often we are working hard toward rest when, in actuality, we are called to work from our rest. It’s a mindset shift.

I wonder what you think about that, and how you currently view rest and its importance in your life?

You are loved.
